Your wedding invitations will be the first thing your guests will see for your wedding. It sets the tone and theme for the most important day in your life.
A few things to consider when booking your wedding invitations…
Ensure accessories are also available, ie rsvp, wishing well, rsvp, place cards, order of service books etc.
Before ordering your wedding invitations, you will need to have an idea on the colour scheme and theme of your wedding and number of guests.
Allow plenty of time when ordering your wedding invitations, we recommend ordering your stationery no later than 6-9 months before your wedding. We recommend your invitations to be sent out 6-12 weeks before your wedding, and earlier if you are inviting international guests. You may like to consider a save the date card to give your guests plenty of notice and to keep your wedding date free, especially if you are getting married over the summer months.
When setting your rsvp date remember you will need to allow time for your rsvp cards to be returned and compile your place card list to have your place cards printed.
If you are having a destination wedding you should send out your invitations as soon as possible. A passport invitation is the perfect choice for a destination wedding as it is in a book form, which has extra space to include additional information such as accommodation, destination and travel information. Along with maps, images etc. A standard wedding invitation will not allow enough space to include all these details. A save the date card is also a good idea for destination weddings.
Another idea for destination weddings is to have a design created using materials from your destination weddings country ie hand painted tapa design below from Fiji.
When ordering your wedding invitations, be sure to read all of the terms and conditions, look for a business that offers an all inclusive price, many will charge set up fees, proofing fees, that can be hidden costs. Make sure your stationery package also includes printing of guests names and addressed envelopes as this may also be an additional charge.
If you are considering making your wedding invitations your self. Be careful when buying papers as most of the metallic cards you may have trouble printing at home, due to the thickness of the card and the metallic coating. Often it can be a higher cost making the invitations your self as you will be paying full retail prices.
Look for a stationery business that can supply you the printed, cut and scored card and accessories to match and then all you have to do is assemble.
